Open Museum For All

Open Museum For All echoes Samara Chauhan’s commitment, through LEAP, to provide underserved children with access to immersive environments such as Museums, which are living repositories of knowledge, history, science, and culture, that may otherwise be inaccessible due to financial and logistical barriers.

The initiative stems from the disparities in education and access to arts and culture in our country. India currently has an estimated 3.22 crore out-of-school children (ages 6–17), while millions more enrolled in schools lack access to quality education and enrichment opportunities.

Less than 20% of children from low-income families have exposure to cultural spaces like museums, art galleries, or science centers. UNESCO’s 2024 State of the Education Report for India emphasizes the transformative importance of culture and arts education in promoting creativity, holistic growth, and equity.

In Delhi in particular, over 7 lakh children live in urban slums or low-income households, most of whom have little or no access to cultural or scientific institutions.

Objective

The initiative bridges the opportunity gap by offering experiential learning to children who would otherwise be excluded. Such an initiative ignites imagination, fosters critical thinking, and encourages holistic development by exposing underserved learners to inspiring cultural and educational spaces.

Current goal

Engage 200 underserved children

Future goal

Engage 50,000 children
